BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPOTLIGHT
Cygnet Health Care celebrates
30 years of serving patients in the United Kingdom (UK)
Cygnet was established in 1988 and was acquired by UHS in 2014. Since its inception, Cygnet has grown to more than 125 hospitals dedicated to serving the mental health population of the UK. This includes the integration with CAS Behavioral Health and the acquisition of The Danshell Group.
“For the past 30 years, we have dedicated ourselves to caring for the most vulnerable people in society by being a true partner with the National Health Service (NHS),” said Dr. Tony Romero, Chief Executive Officer of Cygnet Health Care. “During this time, our family has grown, namely with the acquisitions of Cambian Adult Services, Alpha and most recently, Danshell.”
New Cygnet St. William’s, Darlington
Neuropsychiatric and Neurodegenerative Rehabilitation Service for Men
Cygnet St. William’s is a new 12-bed Neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility for those affected by acquired brain injuries. The hospital is a modern purpose built facility, which has been designed specifically to provide a clinically-led evidence-based neuropsychiatric pathway for those individuals presenting with behaviors that challenge.
The facility’s person-centered approach puts the individual at the center of their treatment and discharge planning. The service offers a wide range of activities and facilities to promote independent function. Positive behavior goals are focused on discharge planning to support service users to return to community living — either with support or independently.
